In 1995, Lew Little, Walt Mattingly and JerryLittle found themselves looking for a place to work when the company they worked for went out of business. After receiving numerous phone calls at their homes from former customers asking each of them to do work, the three decided to join forces. Thus began McLean County Glass & Mirror, Inc.
The business started in a small area of a building on West Market Street and slowly progressed to renting the entire building. That building served the business very well for 14 years. In 2010 McLean County Glass moved to their own building at 903 W Locust Street.
Within the first year of operation, the company faced an untimely death of one of the partners, Walt Mattingly. We continue to miss Walt’s easy-going personality and wry humour. We have many customers who still ask about Walt.
Lew began his glazing career in Champaign IL at the age of 18 when a glass company literally knocked on his door asking if he was interested in going to work for them. Lew retired in 1999 after more than 40 years of glazing. To this day, we hear stories about Walt and Lew from people who worked with them.
Today, Jerry is the remaining partner. Jerry began glazing after completing a 3-year apprentice training program along with countless hours of on-the-job training from Walt, Lew and others. Jerry’s vast experience in all aspects of glazing provide the expertise needed to effectively direct his employees to meet the needs and expectations of our customers. Jerry has a great team of journeymen glaziers dedicated to the glazing trade.
